Booking Terms & Conditions
All bookings must be secured with a deposit paid as agreed with us (usually for one night, or for 50% of the total booking cost)
Bookings can be made online or by contacting us directly by telephone or email.
We normally try to confirm your booking with us within 24 hours. If you do not hear anything in that time then please telephone us on 01690 710587
Advance payment can be made using our secure payment portal (STRIPE) if booking online. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact us directly if you wish to book by telephone or email, where deposits can also be made by BACS (bank transfer), Debit/Credit Card (we can send you a secure payment link) or personal cheque.
Due balance payments will taken remotely the night before departure using the card details used on booking. Alternatively it can be paid on departure via our Credit/Debit, Apple/Google/Samsung Pay, or Cash.
Our prices are guaranteed on all confirmed bookings.
We welcome children over 5 years old, but Sorry, No Pets.
At the time of booking, whether by phone, email or online, you will have been informed of our cancellation policy as follows:
Please remember that a ‘Reservation’ constitutes a contract between yourselves and The Ferns Guest House. Deposit Cheques are non-refundable and any cancellation made within 14 days of your scheduled arrival date will be charged at 1 night’s room rate per room booked. Cancellations within 7 days of the arrival date will be charged in full. Any reduction in the number of guests or the duration of your stay prior to arrival, the original booking price will still apply. Whilst you are with us, if you alter your booking by reducing the number of nights you stay then the original booking price will still apply. For bookings by large parties a non-refundable deposit may be requested by us.
Should further lockdowns be imposed due to a COVID-19 outbreak, either at The Ferns or our local area, or a widely publicised lockdown in your region, then we will refund any deposits paid in full.
However, if you (or a member of your party) are unable to travel due to having contracted COVID-19 or you/they have been advised to self-isolate as a precaution while awaiting test results, then our normal cancellation terms will apply (BECAUSE OF THIS WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE OUT HOLIDAY INSURANCE).
Check in time is from 4.00 pm until 7.00 pm on the day of arrival. Please let us know by telephone or email if you wish to arrive outside these times and we will try and accomodate your plans if we are able to do so.
Check out time is 10.15 am on the day of departure.
Payment of Account
We will attempt to take payment of the balance due the night before departure wherever possible. This will be done remotely using the card detils provided at the time of booking (we will email you to let you know if this has been succsssful). Alternatively payment of account can be made on the morning of departure, by cash, debit cards or credit card (VISA or Mastercard) or Apple/Google/Samsung Pay. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept personal cheques for payment, other than for deposits, as banks will no longer guarantee these against Bank Cards.
We have limited parking for up to 5 cars to the front of the house, available on a first come, first served, basis.. Vehicles are parked at owners’ risk. Additional free street parking is also available nearby.
To comply with current legislation The Ferns Guest House is strictly NO SMOKING. Anybody found smoking inside the building will be asked to leave immediately and settle their bill in full. Also, because our smoke detection system is sensitive to vapour as well as smoke particles, the use of e-cigarettes (“vaping”) is not permitted inside the building.
Where appropriate compensation will be required for any breakages / damages caused as a result of your actions whilst you are with us.
